About the Artist

Eric Huson (born 1930) is a British painter and printmaker best known for his atmospheric depictions of the English countryside, canals, cottages, and rural architecture. Working primarily in watercolour and oil, Huson developed a distinctive style characterised by strong draughtsmanship, muted palettes, and a careful observation of Britain’s changing rural and urban landscape.

After attending Alleyn’s School in Dulwich, Huson studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts between 1945 and 1947, where he was taught by the influential British artist and illustrator John Minton, alongside William Townsend. This connection places Huson within the wider tradition of post-war Modern British art and printmaking.

Throughout his career, Huson exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, and the Royal Society of British Artists. His work is held by a number of organisations, including the Government Art Collection.
