Drawn by David Beauchamp Green, when he was an architecture student at the University of Sheffield, this work applies his knowledge of the classical architectural style within a fictive setting. Fractured figures, mimicking sculptural forms, are depicted wrestling in the foreground and in the frieze of the building behind them - this extends the scene, and creates a variation in depth, contrasting with the order and symmetry of the architectural style.
