Painted by a young Victor Goodchild, a Suffolk artist of some prominence during the latter half of the 20th century (exhibited at the Ipswich Art Society in 1997), this work displays an advanced understanding of the composition of the original dust jacket for Anna Kavan’s 1936 novel, Goose Cross (published under her pen name of Helen Ferguson).
