About the Artist

John Bulloch Souter (1890–1972) was a Scottish painter and printmaker. Born in Aberdeen, he trained at Gray's School of Art before studying under Allan Fraser. After serving with the Royal Army Medical Corps in the First World War, he settled in London, building a successful portrait practice and exhibiting at the Royal Academy. Alongside painting, he also produced a a number of etchings.
