About the Artist

Adrian Daintrey RWA (1902–1988) was a British painter, draughtsman, and writer, renowned for his expressive landscapes and figure studies. Educated at the Slade School of Fine Art before continuing his studies in Paris, Daintrey moved within a distinguished circle of twentieth-century British artists; his first exhibition, held at Dorothy Warren's Gallery in 1928, was shared with Paul Nash.

During the 1950s he served as art critic for Punch magazine and later taught at the City & Guilds of London Art School. Daintrey exhibited widely throughout his career, and his works are represented in major public collections including the Tate, the British Museum, and the Imperial War Museum.
